Who do you trust more... Big Government, or the U.S. Military?
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 9:42 AM ![]() |
This is the poll question they will never ask you, because your answer might be the wrong one. That would scare the starch out of Washington, D.C.
I trust our military more. Big Government is assassinating the country. Yes, it’s come to that. What about you? Can you honestly tell me differently? Answer, if you dare... (7:10) |

Trick Question, Police & Military is the arm of Big government. That's one thing I did learn in the Corps.
The military will become free thinkers once the dollar bill is removed. I still trust remington, ruger and weatherby above all else, but if I had to make that choice, I would rather the military than another bradley ammendment.
While they're interconnected, if you think of it in terms of which would better help us if the other went 'crazy', I guess I'd pick the Big Gov to help us out more in a coup, than I would the military to help us out against an out of control government.
I don't trust the US Military under Obama. We could get Waco all over again. But instead of a cult being burnt to the ground, it will be a Southern Baptist Church.
Is this a joke question? Who exactly do you think pays for and runs the military? The War Faerie?
This is about the dumbest question I've ever heard. It's like saying do you trust your body more or your legs. Nearly 55 percent of the total US federal budget is spent on defense. It is, in fact, what makes "big government" so big.
So what happens when you get your way and the government's gone and only the military remains? Well, without a purpose--the defense of the nation and the Constitution--and without a democratic means of support through taxation, etc., do you really think you'd trust the military then?
You are a simpleton.
Yeah, this is about as lame an attempt at a push poll as I've ever seen. The above comments on the government funding the military are right on, of course.
Let me try out Tim Doctor's "polling" methodology for a second.. "Tim Doctor is attempting to stir up hatred for the Obama administration by implying that the military, which is the recipient of a majority of federal spending, is unconnected with the federal government. Would you say he is being a) genuinely congenitally stupid, or b) sleazily disingenuous? Or maybe c) some combination of the two?"
What part of big government is "assassinating" this country?
The part of big government that ensures your food, water and prescription drugs are safe and effective? The part of big government - city streets, interstate highways and bridges - you use to get around every day? The part of big government that ensures the car you drive won't kill you? The part of big government that delivers your mail? The part of big government that insures that those who built your home and business followed safety procedures and used quality materials? The part of big government that regulates the airspace so you can travel across the country? The part of big government that regulates power and airwaves that make communication by cellphone and internet possible? The part of big government that ensures that the population has a certain level of education and affluence so that business and commerce can function? The part of big government that tracks diseases and puts procedures into place to minimize outbreaks in this country? The part of big government that funds research that leads to new technology and breakthroughs in medicine? The part of big government that keeps seniors out of poverty? The part of big government that polices our borders as well as our streets?
Is that what is assassinating our country? Really? Because the only places on this planet that don't have "big government" seem to be pretty wretched places. Somalia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Central African Republic and Congo-Brazzaville come to mind. I have been to Africa where people die from fake drugs, crank doctors, unsafe food and water, unsafe buildings, roads, bridges and homes because there is no government regulation; where preventable diseases sweep through the population. where people put themselves and others at risk by driving unsafe vehicles.
There are prosperous countries without a big military. There aren't prosperous countries without "big government".
I dont't understand the question. With our big governments spending on defense equaling nearly the rest of the world combined; we can not trust big government to heed President Eisenhower's warning us of a military industrial complex gone amuck. And with a military gone amuck, who do we trust?
What about you?
Me? Well, I'm not a drooling moron and, thus, I'm fairly sure the government and the military are the same damn thing.
Can you honestly tell me differently?
I couldn't honestly do anything else since I'd have to beat myself repeatedly on the skull with a hammer in order to become dumb enough to accept your absurdly idiotic premise.
Answer, if you dare.
Oh I dare, I dare.
These comments are full of wind.
US Military...even though they are funded by the government, they know it's by the tax payers $$ and they will uphold the constitution, where Big Gov, shreds the constitution! (Both parties!)
Oh I dare, I dare.
If you will dare, I will dare
Shorter Timdr: "Duh! I is stupid."
Christina also. Evey sentient human knows that the military is the biggest of big government. Morons.
I trust the government, of course. Thugs with guns should scare anybody rational enough to consider their own well-being.
Oops. That's not the answer you wanted, is it?
Come on, seriously. You want to live in a country ruled by a military junta? Or an anarchy where it's everyone for themselves? I see two possibilities here: you're too dumb to have considered the consequences of viewing democratic government as an evil to be destroyed; or you're too dumb to understand that in an anarchy or military dictatorship, you'd most likely be the patsy at the bottom rather than the big man at the top.
Wow, some really stupid motherfuckers comment here. Stay at home and shit your pants, believe in every fucking conspiracy and generally act like babies. Justin and Chuck: yes, I mean you dumb bitches.
Why have so-called libertarians become so much like regular wingnuts? Every country where the military dominates, people are enslaved and brutalized. Take a look at Iran, or Myanmar, or the Latin American military dictatorships of times past.
Calm down, everyone.
This is a good conversation to have.
I never said I wanted the military to take over. I don't want a military coup. Most of you never listened to a word I said in my podcast.
I want government to stay within its consitutional boundries. Because it has not, because they are out of balance w/ the private sector, feeding on it, my general level of trust, with regard to institutions, currently favors the men and women in uniform.
More to come...

It is so funny to see the typical hurling of insults by the "educated few". When you look at where you have been in comparrison with where you are, and the road ahead... you tend to see things from a different perspective. Politics is like that childhood playground... The funny thing about all of this discussion is that very very few actually had the balls to answer the question, which is in fact a part of the problem itself.
Funny thing is supporting the "Constitution" requires action not necesasrily consistent with the wishes of the "Government" despite the strong link between the two, and the claims that they are one in the same.
"Who do you trust more... Big Government, or the U.S. Military?"
EPIC CIVICS 101 FAIL.
"I trust our military more."
Also includes one side-order of BASIC MODERN HISTORY FAIL at no extra cost!
"Big Government is assassinating the country."
If Korzybski wasn't already dead, the current abundance of hyperbolic drama-whoring gibberish like this would probably kill him. Yes, our panel of judges agree: it's ELEMENTARY SEMANTICS FAIL for the coveted Trifecta Of Drooling Idiocy ... congratulations, your complementary "How To Keep A Pinhead In Suspense" guidebook is in the mail.
